Recedo Scar Gel Review

I wanted to share my journey and review for a prescription scar cream I have been using. Before using this topical scar gel I couldn’t find any personal reviews on the internet. I want to start off by saying I’m all for wearing scars proudly, they tell a story, and show perseverance. With this in mind, some people may view this as vain but personally as a young female if there was an option to help lighten my scar I wanted to give it a try. Recedo Topical Gel was suggested and prescribed to me by my dermatologist.

I received my pacemaker on 2/5/2019, during this procedure they removed my loop recorder as well. My incisions were closed with dissolvable stitches and dermabond. Around the two week mark when my dermabond was off and my incisions were healed over is when I started to use Recedo. Recedo Topical Gel is an advanced silicone treatment for minimizing the appearance of scars. The gel dries rapidly to form an invisible protective silicone sheet over the affected area. This protective barrier is flexible, waterproof, and breathable. The patented silicone gel formulation has been shown to flatten, soften, and smooth scars, relieve the itching and discomfort of scars, as well as reduce the discoloration associated with scars.

I use Recedo Topical Gel on my pacemaker incision site, loop recorder removal site, and the scars on my hip from arthroscopic surgery I had about a year ago twice daily. Although I am still using the cream to see its full benefits I have taken pictures along the way to see and share my progress. Although I only documented my pacemaker incision site. I have definitely noticed a lightening of my scar and a reduction of the raised incision. This cream also helped to soothe the itching of the incision site earlier on when it was healing.

I was introduced to Recedo Topical Gel when I asked my dermatologist her thoughts on Mederma. I personally cannot review or say anything about Mederma as I never used it but she told me she felt it didn’t work very well and suggested this gel to me. Regarding the price. Every insurance and its prescription coverage is different but with my insurance and a coupon the pharmacy had found for me I only paid $25 for Recedo Topical Gel. This is about the same price of Mederma. It’s been a little over two months and I’m still on my original bottle.

When I first got my pacemaker and was looking into options of trying to lighten the incisional scar I had looked into laser treatments and thought this was the route I might take, but this option is very costly. I’m really glad I came across Recedo Topical Gel and I definitely recommend this medication to others who want to help diminish the appearance of scars. I have included a link below to an article published in the The Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology reviewing the efficacy and safety of this topical gel. There are more pictures of patients personal results included within the article as well.
